‘Man plans... and God laughs.’

Or so goes the famous quote... where it came from, I certainly do not know. I think many of us have experienced an event, be it a tragedy or something that simply urgently demands our attention, that seems to bring our plans to a screeching halt and forces us to reevaluate what exactly it is we’re doing and what we desire precisely.

In my own life, it seems the last 5 years have drastically changed me and altered my plans for myself substantially (for the better). Many deaths in the family, traumatic interpersonal relationships and the blossoming of new friendships, a realization of my own struggle through post-traumatic stress disorder that arrested my musical abilities and transformed my relationship with art, and religious conversion; all to name a few. I write this to say I needed time to sort out precisely what I desire, what I hope to communicate as an artist, and to reconcile my music making with what I hope to be a coherent and true vision of the world. The arts, and music especially, are very sacred and I believe (along with Plato) that to certain capacity they possess the ability to subvert our reason, and as such deserve to be considered carefully and treated with love and reverence.

I hope over the course of the coming year to begin publishing essays more regularly, (hopefully monthly) as well as beginning to produce and release video essays/interviews, along with my own arrangements and compositions while I finish my degree. I am in a much better place emotionally, artistically, and spiritually and I am hopeful of the coming year. I look forward to the opportunity to share my love for all things music, philosophy, and history as well as my life working and performing in the great city of New York.

Over the course of the next few weeks, I plan to release some old footage from some gigs pre-covid and some highlights of things before I moved to New York City a couple years ago, so be on the lookout for those if you’re interested in taking a quick stroll down memory lane. I’m currently in the process of putting together a mailing list, and if you wish to be added to that, send me a direct message on Instagram (here) and I will happily add you to the list.

As always, thank you sincerely for your support, it truly means the world to me. I look forward to what this year will bring!

When old age shall this generation waste,

Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe

Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all

Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."

-       John Keats
